Oz: The Great and Powerful Movie Poster

From The DW: “In the upcoming prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, James Franco stars as Oscar Diggs, ‘a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics’ who finds himself in the Land of Oz, where he thinks he’s hit the jackpot. That is, until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who aren’t convinced he’s the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Oz: The Great and Powerful is out March 8, 2013.”

As excited as I am about this, I can’t help but wish it was Wicked, and hate that they are competing with Gregory Maguire’s perfect backstory. It’s like when Santa Claus: The Movie came out and totally left out the parts about the Burgermeister Meisterburger and the Winter Warlock. It’s just confusing. Don’t muddle up our myths!
