My Hills Are Very Much Alive

TV The Sound of Music musicals live tv event This makes me tingle in my Edelweiss. NBC and the producers of Smash, Chicago, and Hairspray are teaming up to stage a live version of The Sound of Music. NBC said, “There used to be a tradition of broadcasting musicals live back in the 1950s,” blah blah blah, and they want to do it again. But the best part is when they said, “It isn’t our intention to produce a remake of the movie version of The Sound of Music — that would be blasphemy. What we want to do, instead, is to give a completely fresh experience of this great musical in the form of a classic television event, combined with a live performance. All of the actors will be singing live; there will be no lip-synching to pre-recordings.” DY-ING.
