Oh gurl, she’s coming for Mariah’s crown. Yes, yes, hennie. Kelly Clarkson has thrown the gauntlet DOWN. Her new holiday ditty “Christmas Eve” is QUITE the ear worm, you’re going to be singing it well into next summer, I GUARANTEE IT. And if it sounds a teeeeeeensy bit like “All I Want for Christmas,” it’s because it has that same retro-Phil Spector/Wall of Sound feel to it. Billboard calls it “jolly,” Rolling Stone calls it “euphoric,” … and you’ll call it THE BEST SONG OF THE YEAR, OMG.
“Christmas Eve” is an original song which accompanies her second children’s book inspired by her daughter, River Rose and the Magical Christmas (to be released on October 26).
“I’m hearing sleigh bells (hear those sleigh bells ring)/ I’m seeing snow (I see those snowy scenes)/ I’ve waited all year baby just to see those reindeer/ Watch them as they go/ Home by the fireside (home by the fireside)/ Twinkling lights (all those pretty lights)/ I’ve waited all year baby just to see that sleigh flying to the night.”
