The town that played the role of Katniss Everdeen’s home, District 12, in the movie of The Hunger Games is called Henry River Mill Village and is situated approximately 70 miles from Asheville, North Carolina. After the mill in the town’s name burned down, only 20 buildings remained in the 72-acre community. It almost doesn’t merit being called a town. Of course, since some of the megahit movie was filmed there, fans drop by to drink in the aura. The town’s owner, 83-year-old Wade Sheperd, can’t deal with the visitors so he’s selling everything for $1.4 million. (via Hollywood Reporter)
