I just don’t know. I just don’t know if I can support this madness.
For MONTHS now, Disney has been searching for the perfect Aladdin for their live-action reboot directed by (FIRST RED FLAG) Guy Ritchie. They had three perfectly marvelous front-runners in Dev Patel, Zayn Malik, and the clear internet favorite Avan Jogia (I LOVE YOU AVAN, OMG!). Now comes word that they’ve hired relative newcomer Mena Massed (see bottom pics)– who is adorable, no doubt about it, but OH! the loss of Zayn or Avan as AN ACTUAL DISNEY PRINCE just breaks my heart.
Mena will star with (Pink) Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott as Jasmine. And I’m OK with that.
But then of course we have to deal with (SECOND RED FLAG) Will Smith in the Robin Williams role of the genie. Will is insufferable in the most staid of roles, can you IMAGINE him chewing the scenery in this? Robin we loved because it was the perfect vehicle for his persona. Will trying to match Robin’s energy just sounds like a nightmare to me.
And can Guy Ritchie corral all this nuttiness? Is he really the right guy for a Disney musical? I just don’t know.
Give me your thoughts.
And check out the pics of Mena, below.
‘Spring has past, summer has gone and winter is here. And the song that I meant to sing remains unsung. I have spent my days stringing and unstringing my instrument.’ A saying no one should carry the burden of. Play your instrument every single day – you’ll only get better.
