Last night, of course, was the launch of the fabulous new Esquire channel which debuted with the dazzling WOW documentary Esquire’s 80th, narrated by the ever-humpy John Slattery. It tells the history of the legendary magazine through archival cover stories, iconic images, and seminal articles, featuring the magazine’s most celebrated editors, writers and story subjects as they look back over the last eight decades at the people, politics and pop culture that shaped our lives. Really good stuff. If you missed it, it will air again Friday night at 9:30 and again on Saturday at midnight and 6AM. Set your DVRs. I get so excited by those 1960s covers, the ones produced by ad man George Lois (the model for Mad Men‘s Don Draper), I could spend hours going through their cover archives. I heartily encourage you to check it yourself. And by all means, consult your program directory to find what channel the Esquire channel is on and give it a whirl. Congrats, Esquire, and congratulations to everyone at WOW who worked so hard to make such a wonderful show!
