On October 3, Cher will be putting 700 personal items up for auction at Sotheby’s. She’s spring cleaning, making room to redo her house from neo-Gothic to Moroccan. Among the lots are her bed, a giant Gothic brass thing; a bunch of Bob Mackies she wore either on the TV shows she had with Sonny or to the Oscars; a couple of brass chandeliers; a 16th-century figure of Jesus; 85 pieces of jewelry, some crafted by her own hand; and her Hummer. You know, the things you accumulate. The sale is expected to bring in more than $1 million, a “nice” piece of that going to the Cher Charitable Foundation, she promises. “I have loved everything I ever bought,” she said. “I have loved them and kept them for all these years and now it’s time for them to go on.” You know what would really drive up the bidding? Cher’s old face. She must have it in a box somewhere. (Chicago Tribune)
