Watch out drag queens – Cate Blanchett is coming for your job! The Oscar-winning Carol star took to the stage at the legendary Stonewall Inn to perform two songs: Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Own Me” and Adele‘s “Hello” – walking through the crowd, as if TO THE MANNER BORN, snatching dollar bills and stuffing them into her bra.
Cate was there filming for Ocean’s Eight – and performed during the drag show to benefit the Newtown Action Alliance in their efforts to end gun violence.
“Come on ladies,” Cate says at the end of the number and welcomes drag queens Aurora Sexton (Miss Gay USofA), Candis Cox, Vancie Vega, Zola Powell, and Brenda Dharling onto the stage for what appears to be the curtain call.
