Badass Digest is reporting that Neil Gaiman’s cult comic series Sandman has been pitched to Warner Bros as a big screen franchise and they “were very receptive to the idea.” It’s also being said that DC CCO Geoff Johns is “very behind” the vision presented and early talks have begun with Joseph Gordon-Levitt to potentially to star as Morpheus aka Dream of the Endless, Oneiros, the Shaper, the Shaper of Form, Lord of the Dreaming, the Dream King, Dream-Sneak, Dream Cat, Murphy, Kai’ckul, and Lord L’Zoril. Which is terribly exciting news and all, but let’s hope they update Morph’s Kajagoogoo ‘do. I’m cringing at the thought of my sweet JGL in a bad Tina Turner wig.
Via Coming Soon: “Sandman, which launched DC Comic’s Vertigo imprint, ran for 75 issues beginning in 1989. Gaiman’s worlds-within-worlds weaved an episodic anthology, focusing on the allegorical character of Dream and his brothers and sisters, known as the Endless (Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny).”
