With all the social media controversy about Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star Milan Christopher’s relationship on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, VH1 has produced a new special about homosexuality in the hip hop community, premiering this Monday, October 19, and it will feature our own Big Freedia!
The LHH: Out In Hip Hop special is set to feature some big names in hip hop and journalism such as DMC, Ray J, Karamo Brown, Cakes da Killa, and more. It will be a candid, honest discussion about the important topic of being gay in a community that may not welcome you.
In case you haven’t been in the Love & Hip Hop loop this season, the controversy started when there were reports that the rest of the cast (specifically Ray J and Omarion) wasn’t happy with the addition of Milan, who is the first cast member of the show to be openly gay.
Essentially, he and Miles have had a tumultuous relationship whose problems trace back to the fact that Miles is still in in the closet, and is currently struggling to come out to his friends and family. The entire situation has caused a whirlwind of controversy on social media. Some fans of the show aren’t happy with this storyline for various reasons:

Miles and Milan's story line is so dramatic. Like I get it but it's just never this deep #LHHH

…Prompting this Instagram post:
Can someone please help me understand this. I cannot believe some of the horrible, evil, hateful comments that I read on a daily about me being open and honest about my sexuality, about me allowing myself to be vulnerable to love and showing that vulnerability to the world. I wake up every morning, and start my businesses off, I go to the gym, maybe shop and then I stay up majority of the night because I'm writing or in the studio and making music working. That's my life. I work hard everyday, I go to church, I pay my taxes, I love my family, I advocate for the youth, I donate to my community. I allow myself to be a vessel of love and not hate, I'm not a murderer, I'm not a rapist, I'm not a racist, and anyone who knows me personally will tell you I am good loving down to earth person to everyone I meet. But after all that, after all the things going on in our community, killing of our children like dogs, systematic procedures to keep our men and women in jail, soulless people who could careless about our rights or human rights at all. Church bombing, mass murders, school shootings, kidnappers, oppressors, genocidal dictators, rapist.. But yet and still I'm the worst kind of person on the planet & going to hell because of something I #MilanChristopher did not chose, like seriously you think if I had a choice I would have looked at my options and said I wanted to be gay, I wanted to chose the hardest route in any men's life ESP a black men's , I wanted to be considered the most derogatory term in our culture, I wanted to lose jobs, make it harder for myself, be discriminated against times 2, being who I am was not a choice i don't think you guys understand how hard it is to just be me, how much strength it takes just to live my life and try to be happy…but yet again I'm the worst kind of person on the planet, not because of a choice I made but because of the way I was born?
Here’s hoping it all works out because they’re an adorable couple when they’re happy.
Don’t forget to tune in Monday to hear what the Queen Diva has to say! The hour-long special starts at 11pm on VH1.
