And very often he does it naked, like he did for "The Naked Truth," this Advocate piece on "the beauty and blemish of the human body." Shameless Plug
Calpernia Addams' girlfriend Andrea James reminds us on her blog that Transamerican Love Story will be having a car in the LA Pride parade on Sunday, June 8, beginning at 11AM. Sharing waving duties will be Addams, TLS host Alec Mapa, and one of Addams' bachelors, Jim Howley. Also, Addams will be joining comic Mapa in his show No Fats, Femmes, or Asians at The Village over Pride Weekend.

Remember this post from mid-April when Transamerican Love Story bachelor Jim Howley wrote that nude pics of himself got him kicked off MySpace but they'd be exhibited at a gallery in May? Well, it's May now and the show starts tomorrow at The Village, 1125 N McCadden Place, in Los Angeles (map). "Please come out and support me in all my half clothed glory!" says Jim.

Transamerican Love Story Finale
On tonight's season finale of Transamerican Love Story, Calpernia Addams has to make a decision about her feelings for one of the three remaining suitors. Does she find the man of her dreams? We couldn't wait to know whom she chose, if anybody, in this last installment of Transamerican Love Story and nobody here would tell the house blogger, so we called Calpernia Addams at home, where she was in a meeting with her pal Andrea James. Without revealing anything, she told us that, "Tonight I had to make the hardest decision yet. You may or may not agree with whom I chose – they all had their special qualities – but you just have to trust me, I know what I'm doing. Thank you for watching!" She just made us more curious. "I may have said some sassy things about the guys," added Andrea, "but I respect and admire all of them for being part of such a groundbreaking show. Callie had a very tough choice indeed."

Margaret Cho is one of the people who watch Transamerican Love Story Monday nights on Logo, and she's just posted her thoughts on the show and "the incredibly beautiful and talented Calpernia Addams" on her MySpace. In "I Love the Nightlife," episode 4 of Transamerican Love Story, Calpernia Addams invites the bachelors to her favorite LGBT nightclub to watch her perform a sexy burlesque dance. Then the guys are challenged to follow suit, to bump and grind for her and an audience of club kids and fabulous judges. In the elimination ceremony, one of the guys is sent home. Premiering this week on Logo, a different kind of dating show—TransAmerican Love Story starring Calpernia Addams. Unlike the atrocious BBC debacle There’s Something About Miriam, the guys vying for Calpernia’s affections know she’s a transgender female, so the big hook isn’t in waiting for the guys to figure out some colossal secret.
Instead, Logo has smartly positioned the show as a chance to see how a transgender woman and her suitors will navigate the often murky waters of dating.
On her official Web site, Calpernia (who we’ve previously interviewed for projects including Soldier’s Girl and Transamerica) says that in being interviewed for the show, she’s still bothered with the cringe inducing “she used to be a man” hook, but if people can tune into the show, they’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of the trans community.
And—truth be told—the show offers some bonafide laughs. As far as I’m concerned, this is a big step forward for Logo.

Q: It sounds like the show was an intense experience. Any regrets?
A: No, the show turned out really great. It kind of freed me from some of those worries. This show was fun and finally got me relaxed. And I’m proud that on this show we have silly things, but talk about deeper things like family and what it’s like to date as a trans person. There’s so much more to this show than the average dating show.
Q: Would you do a second season?
A: It was a very fun experience, but I don’t know. The hardest thing I’ve ever done on camera is sending the guys home. I hate hurting people’s feelings. I’d rather gargle broken glass and lick a lemon than say a word to hurt anyone.
