Michael Douglas Does Liberace

As part of his six-picture deal with the HDNet label to direct low-budget films distributed simultaneously in theaters, on TV, and on disc, Steven Soderbergh got Michael Douglas on board to star as Liberace in a biopic of the flamboyant pianist. And is in talks with Matt Damon – Matt Damon! – to play Lee's five-year live-in companion, Scott Thorson, who sued him for palimony in 1982 to the tune of $113 million, and won $95,000. Throughout his career, Liberace vehemently refuted his homosexuality, even as he lay dying from AIDS in 1987. Unfortunately, Soderbergh has two projects ahead of Liberace, so we all have to make sure to get regular checkups from our doctors, drive safely, and look both ways before crossing the street so we're still alive when this fabulous film eventually hits theaters and elsewhere.
