Jimmy Fallon to Get Feet Wet on Web
Producer Lorne Michaels has decided to take baby steps with former "Weekend Update" anchor Jimmy Fallon's debut into the adult world of TV talk-show hosting. Fallon, who will replace Conan O'Brien when O'Brien replaces Jay Leno, will start rehearsals of a sort on a website to be determined, beginning in the fall. The every-night web performances will be (mercifully?) brief. “I expect that we’ll do something like five or 10 minutes,” Michaels said. The main reason for starting Fallon off slowly, he said, was remembering how his man O’Brien endured a long stretch of uncertainty about whether he could survive succeeding David Letterman. “Conan needed time to find his show,” Michaels said. “I think this will help Jimmy to do that.” (NY Times)
