(Relatively) Recently Dead

Ruth Greenglass, whose testimony that she saw her sister-in-law, Ethel Rosenberg, transcribing stolen atomic secrets on a portable typewriter was instrumental in the 1953 execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for spying, died April 7. She was 84. Her death was revealed in court documents filed by prosecutors in June. Ruth and David Greenglass were pivotal figures in the case. They confessed to being part of an effort to smuggle secrets to the Soviets and turned in the Rosenbergs, their own relatives, as the spies who recruited them.
