Fitting Final Portrait
Artist Vincent Fantauzzo sits before his portrait Heath, for which the actor Heath Ledger sat several times last December, mere weeks before his death. Fantauzzo yesterday delivered the painting to the Art Gallery of New South Wales as an entry in the Archibald Prize, an Australian portrait competition. He said Ledger had thrown himself into the sittings, and that the whispering in the painting represented Ledger's inner thoughts which, as a private man, he was inclined to withhold. Pretty haunting stuff. (Source)
