Emily Is Literally Virtual


Emily isn't a real girl. She's from Image Metrics and is one of the first animations to leap over the barrier called "uncanny valley," which refers to the perception that the closer animation gets to human likeness, the less realistic it looks. "Ninety percent of the work is convincing people that the eyes are real," says the head guy at Image Metrics. (t/y Jim)
