World of Wonder Storefront Gallery

The World of Wonder Storefront Gallery reopens on April 25 with the group show "depARTed," with works themed to celebrities who "inspired before they expired." The show's curator, actor Daniel Franzese, introduces you to Bryden Lando, one of the contributors:

Bryden Lando grew up in Maui, Hawaii. After high school, he left for Santa Barbara to study film and art. In 2002 he moved to Los Angeles and continued painting, but this time the Hollywood world crept into his landscapes as well as working with the clothing line Volcom and other independent designers. Lando balanced these creative outlets over the next few years and began his first clothing label, The Secession, in 2005, which found great success after Lindsey Lohan wore his now-infamous I (Uzi) LA T-shirt while exiting rehab. After splitting off from his business partners last year, Bryden and his team have launched their new premium clothing line, Future Heretics.

I met Bryden a few years back when a stylist friend of mine took me to his studio when pulling some shirts for a fashion shoot. Some of his paintings were hanging in the studio for inspiration. I was in awe of his work. I was born in Brooklyn and moved to South Florida, so Bryden's style of "city kid on the beach" really spoke to me. His paintings have sold every show he has been in at our gallery and I'm sure his take on Tupac will be a big hit. Plan on showing up at the opening to grab one of Lando's pieces, though I usually get calls before the show even opens from people wanting to see what he is doing next. Bryden Lando continues to paint, design, and occasionally surf in Los Angeles.
