Rick Astley's been nominated for his first-ever MTV award. Though he hasn't had product for almost 20 years, the MTV Europe Music Awards put him on a list with nominees Britney, Christina Aguilera, and U2 to receive the extravagant Best Act Ever award. It's all because of the crazy-ass phenomenon of Rickrolling that bedeviled the internet this year, to which nearly everyone fell victim: When you clicked on a link hoping to see, say, a shot of Jessica Alba's vagina, you instead were sent careening into Astley's 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up." Delightfully mischievous. And even though Astley was as perplexed by the prank as anyone, he deserves the MTV nomination for being such a good sport and... rolling with it. (Guardian)
