With its chickens, bales of hay, country music, and boobs-a-poppin', the pink-champagne opening reception for the "Dollypop" show at the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery on Friday night had a Dogpatch vibe and seemed more like a barn-raising party or a taping of Hee Haw than an art event. Honoree Dolly Parton would have been proud had she been there. She wasn't, but there were more than enough representations of her, including sweet Natasha Rose Capener, who rocked a fierce Dolly working our guest list at the door. Despite the lookalikes (there was even a dead-on Sophia Loren!), the true stars of the evening, which was hosted by the show's curators Steven Corfe and E! Online gossipist Marc Malkin, were the two live chickens supplied by chicken wrangler Christopher Galinsky, who had 28 more at home. You haven't really enjoyed yourself until you've seen Lenora Claire sitting on a bale of hay with a big rooster nestled in her bosom, trust us. The other star surely was midnight cowboy James St James, who on nights like this is the hardest working man in showbiz, bar none (especially now that the other James is dead), chatting up everyone in the room for the WOW Report's Daily Freak Show, with his trusty camera- and soundman Michael Lucid in tireless tow. And we hear the paintings were selling like kisses at the county fair. (Photos by Debbi Rotkowitz)
