Leno's Last Laugh
Seems Jay Leno isn't exactly retiring in 2009, two loooong years from now, as we've been led to believe, with Conan O'Brien politely agreeing to succeed him. NBC had a vision of the Tonight Show' s current incarnation moving into the future and it was bleak – like looking into the 1950s – and decided to replace Leno with a relevant, actually funny guy who is beloved by a demographic not yet enjoying its Golden Years. But, according to the Nat'l Enquirer, Leno believes he's got a good 15 years of hilarious hosting and men-don't-eat-vegetables jokes left in him:
Jay Leno is planning to get the last laugh – by jumping to Fox TV, say sources. Jay wants to go head-to-head against Conan with pretty much the same show he’s doing now – and the comic wants to take all his NBC staffers with him, according to insiders.
Conan has nothing to worry about in a head-to-head with Conan. Leno's writers are still mining comedy lead from February's rat infestation at Taco Bell.
