The Big Fix
Following up on yesterday's story about the mysterious police raid on Amy Winehouse's house in London, it's reported today that the singer's husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, was handcuffed last night and carted off to prison as a tearful, hysterical Winehouse wailed after him, "Baby, I love you. Baby, I'll be fine. Baby I love." Real melodrama. Seems Fielder-Civil and his friend Michael Brown are accused of assaulting a bartender named James King and causing him grave bodily harm with intent, and planned to pay him $400,000 to withdraw his statement to the police. Also, the pair were prepared to fly the victim out of the country before the court heard the case against them on Monday. In this "conspiracy to pervert justice in connection with a trial," King, who sustained injuries so serious that he now has metal plates in his face, was complicit, agreeing to withdraw his court statement concerning the alleged attack as soon as $400,000 and $20,000 in expenses showed up in his account. Winehouse, not implicated in the plot, is just Fielder-Civil's long-suffering moll. (Mirror has video)
