Scraping the Bottom

Drydock
Disneyland must add an extra inch of water to its unfathomably popular "It's a Small World" ride due to the increasing weight of its passengers. The boats are bottoming out, so to speak, particularly at the Canadian Mounties and Scandinavian geese legs of the interminable journey, where the boats run aground and Disney's version of the Coast Guard has to sail out to lighten the load. The park insists that fat tourists aren't to blame, that the problem lies with the layers of fiberglass that have built up where maintenance teams have patched and re-patched the "ocean" bottom. But their noses get longer every time they say that. (LA Times; photo: Marc Martin)

When I was three, I made my mom ride that thing 10 times in a row.
