Sins of the Father
A Catholic priest was arrested last week outside Rockefeller Center, where Conan O'Brien tapes his late-night talk show. David Ajemian, 46, a priest from a parish in Boston, has been harassing and stalking O'Brien, 44, for 14 months, sending emails signed with the screen name Padre009 to O'Brien's NBC web address, and calling himself "your priest stalker" and one of "your most dangerous fans" – lying is a sin after all. A criminal complaint filed against Ajemian charges that the priest sent O'Brien threatening notes written on his parish's letterhead ("I'm not Seung-Cho, even if I did once look out on that dark and dreaded doorway on West 72nd Street. And Remember, Frank Costello once dodged a bullet in your building and so can you...") and contacted O'Brien's parents. Ajemian is being held at Rikers Island and if convicted of stalking in the fourth degree and aggravated harassment could spend a year in prison. The Archdiocese of Boston, after getting word of Ajemian's high jinks, has said he "is no longer able to exercise public ministry." (TSG)
