Not a Dry Eye on the Street

Ah, showbiz. That's Murray Hill's catchphrase, and it's a fitting one today. No sooner had we finished taking a few photos of Murray outside on Hollywood Boulevard following his Ring My Bell appearance, than we got caught up in a parade of drag queens, hustlers, and amputees. "It's an Amy Winehouse music video," explained a tranny, and we turned to see a skinny little girl with a beehive walking toward us. We said a quick hello to the "Rehab" singer, took a few snaps with her, and before we knew it we were roped into the street scene as extras by David LaChapelle, the video's director and an old friend of Thairin. Thairin rocked a neck-brace-and-crutches-hustler look at David's request, while I leaned against a wall and pimped out my dog Stella. Three quick takes as Amy strolled through the street-trash lip-synching "Tears Dry on Their Own" into the camera, and it was a wrap. Ah, showbiz.
