Jazz, Not Jizz

Gayelton002Elton John, scheduled to perform at Tobago's Plymouth Jazz Festival in April, is scaring the natives in advance of his arrival. Homosexuality on the Caribbean isle is condemned, and Archdeacon Philip Isaac is inciting the unrest, calling for John's banishment from the festivities by preaching that the pushing-60 songstress will try to convert the islanders. "His visit can open the country to be tempted towards pursuing his lifestyle. He needs to be ministered to." But the festival's organizer, Anthony Maharai, who understands that no one but David Furnish ministers to Elton these days, has countered with the reality that John "is coming as one of the world’s greatest performers — not to preach about what lifestyle people should have.” Of course, the real issue should be What is Elton John doing at a jazz festival?
