Not So Silent
Last night, at the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax, about 200 hundred people, including yours truly, had the privilege of hearing Sinéad O'Connor in an acoustic set of her new CD Theology. No bullshit. Just a cello, a guitar, a gold curtain, and a much more relaxed, humorous Sinead. There were no famous people, no major press, and only one ex-boyfriend spotting: a codependent fireman I dated a few years ago. He used to call 10 times a day; I considered starting fires to get rid of him. And while we politely avoided one another last night, I was reminded that sometimes it's nice to live in Los Angeles where wonderful little events can still sneak up behind you, such as a fallen Irish pop star singing some new songs in a silent movie theater just to see if she still has her sea legs.
