It Was Deja View All Over Again
On Tuesday, Martha Stewart's chauffeur-driven car was followed by police all the way from her house in Bedford, New York, to the Manhattan studios of ABC, where she was to be a guest on The View. Upon arrival, the car was surrounded by police and her driver was arrested. A shaken Stewart, who must have had at least a mild flashback of her own not-too-distant encounters with handcuffs, rushed into her dressing room and barked into the phone to her assistant, "How could you do this to me? Don't you do background checks on people? He was Egyptian! What do I pay you people for?" A rep from Stewart's Omnimedia told Page Six that the driver was a temporary employee and had been with the company only a short while. No word yet on whether his being Egyptian was a good thing.
