Clerical Error
Proving that the Christmas spirit doesn't last very long at all, a brawl broke out between rival gangs of priests at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem this week. The church – thought by many Christians to be the birthplace of Jesus Christ – is run jointly by Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, and Armenian Apostolic authorities. Each group has its own turf within the Basilica and everyone gets along just fine, as long as no one crosses into enemy territory. But that's exactly what happened on Thursday while the church was being cleaned after Christmas celebrations. Dozens of priests and church cleaners went totally OFF when someone from the Greek Orthodox group stepped into the Armenian Apostolic section. Brooms and fists started to fly and police had to come in to separate the two sides, but not before some were left bruised and bloody. Word on the street is that Jesus was not amused.
