The Silence of the Critics

Accepting an award from the Hollywood Reporter at a Power 100 breakfast last week, Jodie Foster said she wanted to thank "my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss." That's Cydney Bernard, the film producer who's been Foster's partner for 15 years. The pair's lesbian partnership is an open secret in Hollywood (and most of the rest of the world) and the couple, with Foster's two kids, are frequently seen around town together. But Foster has never publicly acknowledged their relationship. Until now, for some reason. "I feel fragile," she said, "unsure, struggling to figure it all out, trying to get there even though I'm not sure where there is." And now, we expect, she'll be all up in our faces with GLAAD this and LGBT that. That's usually the next phase. (Daily Mail; photo: AEDT)
