Vocal Hero
Maybe for the first time in TV's viewer-voting history, America showed good judgment, choosing ventriloquist Terry Fator as America's Got Talent's most talented person in the country (at least, out of those who were selected by the panel of celebrity judges out of the contestants who auditioned, so there may be a more talented but lazy person out there somewhere). And he was competing against three singers! Dime-a-dozen singers. America simply cannot get enough of mediocre singers. But this guy is amazing. If you missed the months-long variety-omnibus of a show, and we can't fault you if you did, here's a sample of the winner's awsomeness.

I'll confess. I didn't watch the show much, but I did anxiously await video clips of Terry's performances as they appeared on YouTube. (These networks are wasting so much of YT's potential by only using it for highlights after a show has aired-- they need to start thinking live simulcasts...)
Anyway, this ordinary looking guy really is the most gifted ventriloquist I've EVER seen, and one of the best vocal impressionists as well. According to some comments posted on those vid clips from people who have seen him live (as the hired entertainment at corporate events and such), he easily holds an audience mesmerized for a full two-hour show. I look forward to seeing it if he comes to town -- that is, hoping he won't settle for a Vegas contract too soon. He's one of the few entertainers I believe could actually sell out some houses based on a few TV appearances.
To top if off, Terry seems like a genuinely good-natured guy. I'm happy for him!
