Tomorrow night, Saturday, singer-songwriter Mark Islam is hosting – what else? – a singer-songwriter showcase at Synergy Cafe & Lounge in Culver City. A bunch of, um, singer-songwriters will be performing, but we're mentioning it only because Karen Black is one of the singer-songwriters – billed 6th on the invite for some non-alphabetical reason. Not Karen Black the band, but the actual fabulous movie star Karen Black from Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, Trilogy of Terror, Burnt Offerings, and of course Robert Altman's singer-songwriter masterpiece, Nashville. So it's tomorrow at 8PM and it's free. Plus, Mark Islam tells us that Karen Black wants to answer audience questions between songs." It could only get better if she wrote a song about you.
