A Fistful of Pussies

Fistfulofpussies
Thairin Smothers' rescue cat just had kittens, tiny squinty-eyed things that can be held four to a hand. They are without doubt pretty damn cute. And that's coming from a dog person. Thairin's keeping the black-and-white one but the other three could be yours. If you're in the LA area and would like an authentic World-of-Wonder pussy, contact Thairin at tsmothers@worldofwonder.net.

Why would someone who rescued a cat allow it to have kittens! Spay/neuter, if it is pregnant when rescued get them aborted. Thousands are being killed in shelters.
That's all - I'm stepping down from my soapbox.

Is it legal to abort kittens?

Um.
So you want to abort kittens so that they won't be put to sleep in a shelter?
I mean, I'm pro choice but...
isn't that a bit contradictory?

I can understand how that would seem contradictory. However, not allowing more kittens in the world would help the existing kittens that will die in shelters. You cannot ensure that the kittens being given away will be fixed unless you keep them long enough and do it yourself. If they are not fixed then you are multiplying the population exponentially. All in all, allowing more litters of kittens is extrememly irresponsible given the state of overpopulation of cats and dogs and all the ones that will die due to lack of homes. It's unfortunate the the cat wasnt' fixed in the first place to avoid that awful choice of aborting.
Yes, aborting cat and dog pregnancies is legal and practiced at shelters all the time.
