They're saying that Katie Holmes is slated to play her best friend in the whole wide world, Victoria Beckham, the woman who was almost her birthing partner, in the biopic of UK footballer David Beckham. The film, the idea for which Tom Cruise took to Paramount just before he was unceremoniously evicted from the lot, is a heartwarming and romantic story of a footballer's rise from humble beginnings to exceptional acclaim with the support of his loving wife, then at the peak of her girl-group fame. Short and dark, Tom never considered taking the role of tall and fair Becks for himself. Paul Bettany and Jason Statham are currently in the running for the lead.
