Loud Fast Rules

Patti Smith was CBGB's final act. The legendary New York punk club (somewhat ironically, CBGB & OMFUG stands for Country Blue Grass and Blues & Other Music for Uplifting Gormandizers), where many many famed bands hurled their first loogie into an audience, closed last night for the last time where it first opened in 1973. But owner Hilly Kristal, tired from fighting with the landlord over back rent and blah blah blah has plans to reopen the music club in Las Vegas (the new Mecca), and take many of the club's appointments with him, starting with the storied toilet fixtures. And not a moment too soon, Brazilian artist Fernando Carpaneda's tiny mixed-media sculpture of the club's john (pictured) is up for bid on eBay. (t/y Thairin)
