Cruise Control
Just a quickie review on the sudden pulling of South Park's "Trapped in the Closet" repeat episode on Wednesday and an explanation of why Tom Cruise is an asshole (and will probably threaten us with a lawsuit for saying that). Per Hollywood, Interrupted and Dlisted, the rabid Scientologist threatened Viacom execs that if the episode ran he wouldn't do publicity for Mission: Impossible 3, a Paramount film. Since Paramount is owned by Viacom, which owns Comedy Central, he had them by the short hairs. Also, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were forbidden to discuss the matter for fear of bringing down the wrath of L Ron. Of course, the irony here is that with all his ridiculously overprotective machinations and lunatic behavior it's Cruise himself who is singlehandedly making Scientology seem like a bad joke. And a little scary.
