O MANDI…SA!!!
Woody Allen, that nerdy daughter-marrying freak, uses New York as a point of reference whenever he writes. John Grisham relates all of his stories to the legal field. And I tell stories through reality television. We write what we know, and believe me I know reality television. I watch it because, besides the obvious entertainment value that comes with seeing how far people will go to be on television, you can also learn a lot about the world.
For the three people on the planet who don’t watch American Idol, Mandisa was one of the contestants on this year's number-one-rated show. Now, I never really liked her that much because contrary to popular belief the biiiiatch couldn’t sing that well. Yeah, she was OK, but since they really want a white boy to be idol this year, some of the female participants are sub par. Well, after the bell-shaped (wow, she has a big ass!) diva was given her packing papers, she was asked to sing at a gay pride event. Mandisa declined, politely saying that she was not an advocate for gay people and didn’t think it would be fair for her to perform at the event.
But before you freak out and call her a homophobic bitch, you have to give her props because she said what she believed, at least, and wasn’t a complete hypocrite like other acts who perform for anyone as long as they make money. I’m not a huge fan of the leather and fetish subcultures and probably wouldn’t want to perform a show for them, but that doesn’t make me intolerant, it just makes me know what I like and don’t like. How intolerant of gay people can Mandisa be? She’s been singing for Ryan Seacrest for the past seven weeks.
Some people don’t agree with other people’s lifestyles – whether it’s over sexual orientation, fashion sense, financial situation, or occupation – but not agreeing with someone’s lifestyle doesn’t mean you're filled with hate and contempt for that person. Like, on American Idol I think Chris Daughtry is one of the best singers they've had, but that doesn’t mean I cannot tolerate Katharine or Kelly. It’s just a preference. A lot of times when people say they don’t agree with certain behavior, our fragile egos get crushed and we look on it as a personal attack. We have to learn that disagreement produces change. Not taking things personally can be the first step to realizing that we are all in this together. I think once people become less sensitive about being accepted, the more acceptance will come. BLOG HARD!
It’s always a business doing pleasure with you!

no i don't have to give her props for refusing to perform at a gay event because she doesn't "agree" with homosexuality. Homesexuality isn't a theory with which one agrees or disagrees. It is a condition that exists whether one is symptathetic to it or not. what she is saying is that she is not sympathetic to gay people to the degree that she would not want to be publicly associated with the phenomenon of homosexuality. if you think thats deserving of props, prop away, but to me its just plain backward. Homosexuality not a 'preference" and so other people rejecting gays for being gay isn't a matter of preference, its a matter of bigotry.

I haven't heard anyone refer to homosexuality as a "lifestyle" since... well, since Mandisa said, "Your addiction, lifestyle, or situation may be big, but God is bigger!" onstage. It's a poor choice of words. Sexual orientation is not a lifestyle, and being gay is not scene you choose to join or opt out of at your own discretion.
I don't think there was a lot of hate behind Mandisa's statements, just a lot of ignorance. But it amounts to the same thing: homophobia.

Mandisa was outed as a bigot when the advocate revealed that her idol is Christian author and speaker Beth Moore, who The Advocate calls anti-gay.

She also called for all us gays to change before she sang her song.
It was only after she was booted off and asked a Hypothetical question by the Advocate that she made the comments you ignorantly call brave.

Dude, you're part of a blog that I love, which means you have access to the internet. Use it to get the whole story before you defend someone who shouldn't get our love or money. Many other excellent blogs, like Towleroad, reported this incident correctly. You can too.
PS. If I were a bitchy queen, I’d ask if all WOW shows were this inaccurate, but I’m not…
PPS. Nice calling out of Donna Summer who became born again then "apologized" to the gay community when she was broke and needed to sell records.

If Mandisa holds being gay against anyone in any way, she's an ignorant bigot.
The Ku Klux Klan doesn't "advocate" black people, either. And I guess Dylan and Mandisa would give the KKK "props because they say what they believe:" that black people are God's inferiors, damned to white servitude as prescribed in GENESIS CHAPTER 9:20-25.
Maybe Dylan and Mandisa don't agree, but "it's just a preference" and Mandisa will only gain acceptance when she "stops taking that personally."
Or Dylan could be woefully mistaken on this one.
Mandisa is an ignorant bigot and absolute hypocrite for rejecting gays' "lifestyle" based on commandments from the exact same Bible that commands slavery, specifically for African Americans in the old Southern doctrines.
Mandisa doesn't deserve anyone's "props," especially the gay people she denigrates and disrespects. Props is a two-way street.
Mandisa ought to be rejected by everyone for her gay misunderstanding.
She ought to be confronted, politely or otherwise.
Stop being a Mandisa apologist, Dylan!
P.S. How is it you "disagree with other people's financial situation?"
You don't believe that some folks are broke?
Or do you really think that income is a "lifestyle" that's easily chosen?
Or that either a rich man or a poor man necessarily has something to be ashamed of?
What does income have to do with how you judge people?

Hopefully, we'll soon see federal constitutional amendments banning polyester, the poor, and hot dog vendors. =)
Though I suppose that could just be one amendement.
