Sundance: A Dave in the LifeTuesday, January 24, 2006 01:51 AM tags: Movies
Nobody throws brunch like the gays. This year, the 10th annual Queer Brunch had corporate sponsors whom maybe we just won't mention. At least it wasn't Logo aka Blowgo, the so called gay network that cuts the cusses out of cheesey gay movies that only had dirty words going for them. Outside, we ran into super girl Jenny Shimizu. Smoking a fag she was. From the lips that kissed Angelina she revealed that she is shooting a series called Full Throttle. We are sooo watching. We also ran into Steve Hall, the filmmaker behind those adorable blow-up sex doll movies from Your Mother Productions (or Films, I forget which). Inside, there was much classic disco and other sibilance. We met some queer filmmakers, including Scott Peehl, who did a short with out Broadway musical star Cheyenne Jackson. It played at Tromadance, one of the fringiest of fringe fests and you can visit Scott in cyberspace at filmingk.com. We also met the director of dirtyglitter 1: Damien, who told us that the explicit oral sex scene in his film caused it to be disqualified by some gay film contest panel. Way to support the community. Not. Register outrage by visiting dirtyglitter.com. And, speaking of glitter, we were invited to the Glitter Awards to be held at the Knitting Factory this March. "It's the gay Oscars," gushed our inviter. We're already fagonizing over what we're going to wear. – David A. Keeps
