B-Rex?

I've always thought that Barry Diller's pronouncements were rather overrated, especially all that fuss 12 years ago (ohmygosh) when all he did was buy a Mac laptop and go online. The man was hailed as a prophet.

Well, now he's singing a different tune. "There aren't that many people in that many closets who are really talented and can't find their way out," Diller told USA Today. Hmmm. Interesting use of the word closet! Anyway. "Making a television program or a movie or a song – there are going to be relatively few who do that because there's simply not enough talent. Maybe that's an utter birdbrained statement, but there you are – it's mine."

And yet look at the explosively expanding blogverse, all those names busrting out of all those closets, proving that they have the talent and the chops to create a whole new mediasphere. And next – maybe next month – blogs will blossom into the shows and the personal channels they almost already are.

But if he is a birdbrain, don't underestimate him; the T-rex was a bird with a brain and ruled the world for bazillions of years.
