Cowzilla Comes To Town
Camilla was probably looking forward to getting away from a country where tabloid stories usually start, "She will never have Diana's grace, poise or looks." But things were never going to be easy for her in her first visit to the US, where articles about her have started like this:
Every once in a while something happens that sorely tests the fundamental goodness of the American people, that challenges us to rise above the petty and to walk a righteous path. (Washington Bureau)
Even so, I imagine she was surprised to see a gaggle of Diana-lovers jeering at her as she was leaving the UN yesterday, complete with placards screaming "COWZILLA," "HOME WRECKER," and "REVOLTING WHORE." And those were the people who knew who she was. The Mirror reported yesterday that most Americans have no idea that she even exists; one in eight shown her photo guess that she's the queen. Others think she might be Madonna. I don't know who should be more insulted.
