Plastic Surgery

After dating for 43 years, you'd think that both Ken and Barbie would need some sort of cosmetic surgery, especially since the seniors have recently split and are on the market again. Nobody wants to look at all that sagging plastic, even after a teaspoon or two of liquor at the senior center in Malibu. Mattel seems to think that Ken still aches for Barbie, so they'll be giving him another makeover (see pic), hoping he'll be more alluring to the once-glamorous sexaganarian. But, honey, when it's over it's over. Besides, Ken's always had an eye for Barbie's male friends, but Barbie has been too self-absorbed to notice. While Barbie's attraction to surfer dude Blaine was said to be the cause of the Barbie-Ken split, it was an open secret to all but Barbie (and Mattel, apparently) that Blaine was getting his board waxed by both. Anyway, according to a CNN story today, among the changes Mattel would like to see on Ken are a better tan, eyelid surgery "that allows him to wink at his favorite lady" and a buffer physique. "However, by the looks of Mattel's latest earnings results, it might be Barbie, not Ken, who needs the makeover." Sad but true.
