Amanda Lepore, the trans icon often referred to as having “the most expensive body on Earth,” has an autobiography coming to a bookstore near you!
Doll Parts from Regan Arts, written with Thomas Flannery Jr., will be released in April, and covers Amanda’s boyhood in New Jersey with a paranoid schizophrenic mother, her early struggles in the city working as a dominatrix, and her performances at the Limelight for Michael Alig.
Via Page Six:
Amanda recounts the nitty-gritty details of going to Mexico to have her two bottom ribs cracked and moved in order to embellish her hourglass figure — one of dozens of transformative operations that have cost Lepore more than a million dollars.
Says Amada (in the Amazon description):
“If you happen to be young and transgender, then you’re used to people being hateful toward you when all you want to do is exist. Through all the insanity in my life, there was only one thing I could control: myself. On the outside, obviously, but on the inside, too. I focused on not letting other people’s opinions have any effect on me whatsoever, and that’s how I’ve lived my life ever since.” —Amanda Lepore
And from the book’s back jacket:
“Spend an evening getting intimate with Amanda Lepore, the internationally renowned walking work of art and New York City’s reigning queen of nightlife for three decades.
“Paving the way for today’s trans revolution, Amanda is one of the world’s most famous transsexuals. In this poignant and revealing memoir, Amanda takes off the makeup, peels back the silicone, and reveals to the world the woman she truly is, all with a sense of divine certainty, humor, and charm.
“One of the most famous transsexuals and an effervescent fixture on the New York scene, Amanda Lepore has been at the cutting edge of culture since the Club Kid era, breaking and remaking the rules for music, marketing, and gender. Her constantly changing face has been used to promote Heatherette, M.A.C., Swatch, Smart Car, Perrier, Pop Water, and Sergio K, among many others. Lepore has worked with some the most renowned photographers and creatives in the world, including Terry Richardson and Pierre et Gilles.”
