Here's the thing about Will & Jada's splitTuesday, August 23, 2011 11:56 AM
So that unctuous, odious, and thoroughly repellant couple have called it quits, have they? This is not a post about how much I loathe them, although Lord knows I do. No, this is about how IRRITATED I am with celebrities dictating the dissemination of information about their lives, and LYING TO OUR FACES in order to keep control. JUST THIS MONTH, Architectural Digest published a cover story on Will and Jada's palatial 25,000 square foot home, "a monument to their love." Will gushed to the magazine that it had been designed "with no dead ends to create an infinite cycle that represents what Jada and I hope for our love." Jada then told the magazine: "We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land... something that will always represent our union and the love of our family." Now, obviously they KNEW their marriage was on the rocks when they were queefing out these platitudes. And yet they continued burbling about the infinite cycle of their love because that was the narrative they presenting and by GOD, they weren't going to deviate from it. I find this almost as annoying J-LO and the suspicious timing of that Vanity Fair cover story. It came out TWO WEEKS after they announced their split. Magazines like Vanity Fair need AT LEAST a month lead time for stories, probably two. Which means that while she was grinding her booty on Marc Anthony during the American Idol finale, and cooing to the Spanish tabloid Mujer Hoy about the blissful state of her marriage, she was simultaneously giving the post-mortem of her already-defunct marriage to Lisa Robinson at Vanity Fair. It's just annoying and because their lying is so blatant, it makes me question EVERY STATEMENT OUT IF THEIR MOUTH. How can I believe them when they tell me THIS album and/or movie is the best they've ever done, and working with so-and-so was a dream come true? Of course, it's all lies and all Hollywood is built on a foundation of bullshit BLAH BLAH BLAH, but dear lord, can't they try A LITTLE HARDER?
