Vintage 1950s tampon ads

Love these! So glamorous! So coy! So ladylike! Click on the images to enlarge them, then bask in their serene elegance. I was originally going to post them and ask, "What Are These Ads Promoting?" – but I figured the name Modess probably gives it away. Still, they're gorgeous studies of retro-passive advertising, almost anti-marketing. "Figure it out yourself." Can you imagine anything so genteel in today's marketplace of racist talking vagina ads? Maybe the '50s weren't so bad.
