Marilyn's Dress Sells for MillionsTuesday, June 21, 2011 01:30 PM
The white dress Marilyn Monroe wore in the film The Seven Year Itch recently sold at an auction in Beverly Hills, California for $5.6 million breaking records. The dress was part of a HUGE collection of Hollywood memorabilia accumulated by Debbie Reynolds over 50 years. Other items sold in the auction were clothes worn by Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet and test costumes made for Judy Garland for The Wizard of Oz. Debbie had hoped the collection would someday end up in a museum, but has decided to sell since the museum thing never happened. Can you believe someone would pay that much for a dress? And during a recession! I mean, I guess it's an investment, but you could buy an amazing house for that kind of cheddar. A poster of this image will just have to suffice for me...
