Beyonce is getting a lot of flack for biting on performance artist Lorella Cuccarini at the Billboard Music Awards, and yes, when viewed side by side, it's pretty spot-on. A lot of people (myself included) have also noticed the Pieter Hugo reference in her video "Run the World (Girls)." But let's be serious for a moment here, people: This is Beyonce we're talking about. The girl's an idiot. She can't conjugate to save her life. Every interview is a struggle. This is not someone who is tossing around Lorella Cuccarini and Pieter Hugo references during pitch meetings. Obviously the person to question is the video artist who first suggested the piece to her. Yes, Beyonce has a responsibility to know what the hell she's performing and where the inspiration came from, but let's not actually give her enough credit for ripping off someone as esoteric and artistic as Lorella.
