Harry Potter wedding dress is not at all like Alexander McQueen's, explains Harry Potter costume designerMonday, October 25, 2010 04:16 PM
When William Wesley marries Fleur Delacour in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she does so in a gorgeous flouncy white dress with kissing phoenixes. Yes, those are kissing PHOENIXES. They are NOT to be confused the kissing PEACOCKS that Alexander McQueen put on HIS dress. TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Costume designer Jany Tremaine explains her inspiration: "For the wedding dress, I wanted it to be a witch wedding dress but not a Halloween dress. The dress is white but it needed to have something fantastic to it. So there is the phoenix [motif], the bird, which is a symbol of love in a way because there is rebirth, love never dies, it is born again. So we have that in front of the dress to give a feeling of eternal love. It was the symbol of Dumbledore, too, but it is the symbol of love for the dress." So it's just a coincidence that they happen to look exactly alike, right? Happens all the time. (via Jezebel)
