Penthouse magazine founder Bob Guccione died yesterday from cancer at Plano Specialty Hospital in suburban Dallas, Texas. He was 79. Brooklyn-born Guccione started his magazine in 1969, smack in the middle of both the feminist movement and the sexual revolution, and butted up against, if you will, the incumbent tits-'n'-ass men's periodical, Playboy – most successfully. Penthouse allegedly brought in around $4 billion during Guccione's reign as its landlord. (Pictured: Guccione, Pia Zadora, Andy Warhol, and Zadora's husband Meshulam Riklis at, let's say, Studio 54)
