Really bad paper cuts?

I have a game that I play called "Which is More Disturbing?" in which I find the two most stomach-churning pictures of the day, and ask which one is the most upsetting. For some reason, this is the picture that really sticks in most people's heads. Really look at it. Get up close. What could have happened here? Is it a paper shredding accident? Cheese grater? How would one push the meat that's oozing out BACK IN before sewing them all up? CAN you sew them back up or will there always be jagged little finger flaps catching on everything you touch? And OMG I CAN FEEL THAT HAPPENING IN MY HEAD! STOPITSTOPITSTOPIT! Most important of all, though: Is this picture worse than maggot leg? Good morning, by the way.
