Swanny, How I Love You, How I Love YouThursday, April 15, 2010 08:07 AM
Talk about birds of a feather. These two male swans at the Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset, England, are the only homosexuals out of the swannery's 1,000 occupants. And possibly the only two proudly out swans since the Benedictine monks began keeping records there in 1393. "The swans have been nesting together like this for several years," says the swannery's manager, John Houston, on this swan-on-swan action, "and they get together every nesting season and form a nest together. They sit on the nest and act in every way as if they were a pair expecting to lay eggs. It is quite sweet." Like most couples, he says, "they have some spectacular fights with each other, but they always make up and get back together. We have more than a thousand swans here in the reserve and they are the only two doing this. We don't know of any others acting in this way in the area." Sounds swan-derful. (via Telegraph)
