Another day, another heroTuesday, October 13, 2009 12:20 PM
A 10-year-old Arkansas boy decided he would no longer stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at his school, because he doesn't believe there is liberty and justice for all, especially when it comes to gay rights. Did your eyes just puddle with tears? Mine did. "To say them words and not mean them would be a lie," he told his teacher. When his parents were called to school, they said that he came up with this all on his own. "He is not anti-American," his mother, Laura Phillips, said. "He is very proud to live here, but he knows even at 10 he can make changes." The West Fork School District has responded by saying they don't require students to say the pledge. (via NWA)
